I mentioned this in the Hotstove the other day.

Best players to win a cup, best not to win.

Who is better?

Did any player have a legitimate call to say due to his play the team won?

Or due to a players play they nearly won thanks to his play?

Aussie, provide s bit more context and explanation for the last few items. Do you mean like Ron Hextall in '87 against the Oilers?

87???? Didn't even know ice hockey existed!

How about, maybe, 2014 Lundqvist for you guys when you got to the final - although not sure he had an/the overwhelming influence in getting his team there (you can decide), or it was more a whole team clicking. Could the Rangers have gotten that far without Lundqvist?

Duncan Kieth carrying the Hawks D through the playoffs to the 2015 Cup. Mario 92?
I'm certain without Kieth the Hawks don't win. Mario - others will know better than I. Players that all agree carried their teams. I'll say for the last 2 years, there hasn't been a single overwhelming player that everyone agrees stood out & won the cup for the Pens. A few played very very well, but no 1 player like Kieth for example, carried the team.

...or how about how the Rangers season would have panned out with Zucc not having that head injury in'15.

That's easy, minimum Cup finals, possible win. But the defense was completely banged up, so who knows what would have happened if they won Game 7 against Tampa.

Thanks for the inclusion, Jan!
I like the best/worst trades idea.
I have been a Rangers fan since 1992 and didn't really take an interest in the NHL at all until around 1985. So, I would also be interested in a little bit of Rangers history, top players or moments, etc. Or even something with a personal spin, what made Jan Levine a Rangers fan and not the Islanders or Devils, or any other team?

Hate to go backward, but...
From last blog:

Butcher & Kerfoot are coming to the Rangers. Who gives a crap about a finger painting by someone name Munch.

- mdw

I have to agree with this. My favourite works by Munch would have to be Andrew's Loose Tooth and Love You Forever.

ah yes, the derivation of the force equation.. usually just listed as F=ma since the derivative of mass over time is basically 0.

Tony, in response to why I am became a Rangers fan, here is the first blog I wrote on the site in August 2007 and the one when I took over as the Rangers' blogger a little less than two years later which will explain the reason:

I think the Cup would have been realistic in '15. I doubt the ECF would have gone 7 and, if I recall correctly without looking it up, Hank shut-out the Hawks in both meetings that season.

I know...shoulda...woulda...coulda.

An interesting one would be prospect pools and how teams in the Metro will look in 4 or 5 years featuring these prospects.
